Introduction
International Medical College (IMC) was established in the year 2000 after completing all procedural formalities and duly getting permission from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. IMC started with 20 students in the academic session 1999-2000. Since then the number of students progressively increased every year.
Location
The International Medical College & Hospital is located on the outskirts of the commercial township of Tongi and is about 22 km away from the city center of Dhaka. The major bus stands/terminals, main railway station, and Shahjalal International Airport are within a maximum automobile distance of 40 minutes. The nearness to all amenities and modern facilities of city life and yet separated in the spellbinding scheme of nature is truly a unique feature of the natural advantage of the location of the college.
The Campus
The maddening busy streets and concrete forest of the capital city stop at a distance from the College. The campus stands in a solitary environment amidst green vegetation, spaced villages, and large water bodies. One takes a walk around the campus to take a fresh breath while enjoying the panorama and picturesqueness that the site offers. Everything combines and converges here to make it a perfect place for learning.
The present campus of the college has an area of over 23 Bighas of land. The IMC & H building has a total floor space of 204055 sq. ft. After the completion of the 3rd & 4th floors’ construction, it will be 330883 sq. ft. The office and all preclinical and para-clinical departments are located in the academic building. The Classrooms, Dissection hall, Laboratories, Museum, Library, and other facilities are well and suitably arranged on various floors of the building.
International Medical College Hospital (IMCH) is the teaching hospital of the college. It is a 500-bed multidisciplinary Hospital Complex that is located in proximity to the college building.
Hostel
IMC always gives preference to students’ affairs on a priority basis. Since we believe that a tranquil, soothing lodging is an inevitable necessity especially for medical students, we have arranged well-equipped accommodations for male and female students in two separate hostels. Two storied boys’ hostel is located on the bank of a large pond inside the campus while the girls’ one is situated on the top two floors of the College building. There are separate blocks for foreign male and female students. Both the hostels are adequately furnished with articles needed for everyday living and entertainment. There are cookhouses with cooking kinds of stuff, having one acquainted with the continental recipe to provide the foreign students with foods they are habituated to, on the payroll of the College. A Separate girls Hostal is under construction.
Transport Facilities
Students living in Dhaka city in their own accommodations can avail themselves College bus for their transportation to and from campus free of charge. They, who reside at Dhanmondi, Mohammadpur, Shamoli, Gabtali, Mirpur, Tongi, Uttara, Khilkhat, Banani, Mohakhali, DOHS, Tejgaon, Shahbagh or areas adjacent to these get easy transport facilities. Students from other areas of Dhaka, Tongi, and Gazipur can also use this facility by reaching the nearest selected spots in the above-mentioned areas with their own transport. The Students who live in college hostels usually avail college buses to go to Tongi and Dhaka for shopping and other necessary jobs on all weekdays.
Beautification of the Campus:
The sprawling College campus is situated at a place having scenic beauty. Recently a lake has been excavated within the campus which has added newer beauty to the picturesque view of the campus.
Extra-Curricular Activities:
College regularly arranges sports, cultural functions, annual picnics,s and other entertainment events for the students.
Faculty
The academic Faculty of the college now consists of about 150 members-blend of a distinguished body of academics with proven teaching and research excellence and younger professionals with varied experience. Each department and discipline is headed by a professor/associate professor who leads his team of assistant professor and other professionals to conduct the course.
Allied Institutes
There is a carefully drawn master plan to develop this college as multi dimensional teaching and training institute for medical education. Initially the college started with only MBBS course and gradually following other programs are being initiated:
1. The B. Sc Nursing Course has started its journey in the year 2007 with 20 students.
2. Health Technology, Medical Assistant and Community Paramedics courses are on their way to commence their journey.

Selection Procedure
For Indian candidates have to contact our Admission Committee Office in Kolkata Smile Education Head the basis of “12th 10th & NEET-UG examination results” makes the selection of the students. The Admission Committee selects students purely on a merit basis as per guidelines given by the Kolkata office and the Director-General of Health Services. Students should be medically fit.
